Michelle Chavez is going into her fourth year at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is majoring in broadcast journalism and business management, and her goal is to be an on-air reporter. She’s found that some of the most compelling pieces are expressed not just by explaining people’s problems and emotions, but also by showing them visually. She’s interned at NBC Washington (WRC-TV), NBC New York (WNBC-TV), ABC 7 (WJLA-TV), Voice of America, WUSA9, CBS Radio (WNEW-FM), Univision (Washington Bureau), and C-SPAN where she’s learned how to become a stronger storyteller. Most importantly, she’s learned that, as storytellers, reporters can access the most intimate aspects of a person’s life and share these stories with the rest of the world in ways that may change another person’s perspective or decisions.
We are so pleased to introduce our 25th Anniversary Miss College Park, Michelle Chavez and we look forward to having you meet her at one of our upcoming appearances. Michelle is dedicated to being a positive role model to our Miss College Park Princesses and making appearances on behalf of the City of College Park, The College Park Unit 217, American Legion Auxiliary and the College Park Moose Lodge no 459 as well as the Downtown Merchants Authority of College Park Maryland. Michelle has two platform projects for the year. The first one will be to help collect school supplies for the area elementary schools in College Park. The second one is to “Honor Our Veterans” which is her personal platform. Michelle and I will be welcoming the troops as they return from war this year and performing other duties to benefit our Veterans through the state of Maryland.
We are so happy to share with you all our Miss College Park 2016, Michelle Chavez.
